Maurice G. Pritchard, 94, of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away on January 2, 2024. Maurice is survived by his wife, Janie (nee Bradsher); daughter, Theresa O’Brian (Dan); son, Russell Pritchard (Cathy); and grandsons, Michael O’Brian, Kyle O’Brian, and Craig Pritchard.  

Maurice was born in Rotterdam, NY to Erasmus and Grace (nee Rexford) Pritchard.  

Maurice served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953 with duty at Fort Myer, VA. It was during this time that he meet and married Janie. After his honorable discharge, they move to North Carolina where he worked for Westinghouse. Maurice accepted a position with the National Security Agency, located at Fort Meade, MD in 1955. The family moved to McLean, VA in 1965 before relocating to Spotsylvania, VA in 1992. 

One of Maurice’s favorite activities was dancing. In fact, he met Janie after attending dances with her sister. Maurice also enjoyed gardening and spent countless hours tending to the beautiful plants in his yard. He spent time skiing and bowling. He also had a life-long love of dogs, especially his daughter’s dog Sadie. 

The family will hold a celebration of life later this year.
