Mavis E. Wiemelt1923 - 2013Mavis E. Wiemelt, 90, of Kenosha passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Grand Prairie Nursing and Rehab with her family by her side. She was born on Oct. 4, 1923 in Kenosha to Fred and Hazel (Myers) Schwer. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School in 1942. Mavis married Van Barnes in 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1946. She was also united in marriage to Carl Wiemelt in 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was employed at Community Discount Store for 18 years, for 11 years with the Motor Inn Restaurant in Zion, IL and with the Fuller Brush Store until her retirement. She was an active bowler at the Eagles Club #1055 in Kenosha for over 30 years and she served as the past president and treasurer of the Auxiliary. Mavis was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and involved in the Womens Circle and visiting the members who could not make it to services.She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carrol Schwer; her son, Van Wiemelt; three half-brothers, Fred, Richard and James Schwer; and her step-mother, Emily.Mavis is survived by two nephews, Larry (Kris) Schwer of Kenosha and Mike (Carol) Schwer of Pleasant Prairie; her niece, Arlene (Barry) Chartier of Kenosha; a daughter-in-law, Sandi Carroll of Redland, Calif., as well as many grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Mavis will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the Wesley United Methodist Church (4600 60th Street) with interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
