MELISSA MARIE NICKEL, 31 FREEPORT - Melissa Marie Nickel, 31, of Freeport, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her friends and family. She was born on Feb. 13, 1983, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Richard Nickel and Linda Graham. Melissa attended Freeport High School. She worked as a CNA, was a member of the Diamond Studds, and enjoyed listening to music. Her daughters were a very important of her life. Melissa is survived by daughters, Kiayla Glover and Zoey Taggart, and father Joe Taggart of Freeport, IL; her brother, Tony Nickel of Freeport, IL and Monroe, WI; her father, Richard (Debbie) Nickel of Freeport, IL; her mother, Linda (Doug Schneiderman) Graham of Freeport, IL; her grandparents, Robert and Viola Nickel of Elizabeth, IL and Delores Graham of Freeport, IL; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and her special friends, Staci, Meghan, Connie, and Tracey. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ralph Graham and great-grandmother, Dorothy Birchen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, with Rev. Scott Neasted officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
