Melissa is remembered as a loving and devoted mother and wife. She always managed to create special memories with her son Drew throughout his life, from being the team mom for his soccer team when he was young, to just hanging out and being his best friend in his adult life. She always made sure he knew he had the unconditional love of his mother and a place in her heart no one else could ever fill. When she met her husband David, she found her soul mate and their marriage was her happily ever after. His love and respect filled her heart with a light and glow that was seen on her face and in her eyes when she looked at him. She treasured the bond she had with both of her "boys", as she called them, and time spent with them truly was what brought the most joy and happiness in her life.
Prior to her diagnosis, she also enjoyed gardening and painting during her time off from the job she loved at The Newberry Opera House. Her fiesty spirit and quick wit never failed to make those who loved her laugh and remained with her until the final days of her courageous battle with cancer.
A private graveside service will be officiated by Fr. Eddie Martin at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Down the Canal in Napoleonville, Louisiana.
