It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Melvin Breedlove, who passed away on May 10, 2024 at 7:48 am, at the Miami Veterans Administration Hospital surrounded by love ones. Melvin was born on January 14, 1947, to the loving parents Otis and Eloise Breedlove (Deceased)

Melvin graduated from Miami Springs High School in 1966. After High school he proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1970. During those years Melvin was one of the 8.7 million soldiers that fought in the Vietnam War in 1969. Honorably, Melvin received a number of recognitions while serving but the one he was most pleased by was the Purple Heart medal of honor for his bravery and sacrifice while in a line of duty. After his military service, Melvin fell in love with the city of Philadelphia. Shortly after he and Christine decided to make it their home. There he gained employment as a Production Operator at Fluid Energy where he made many strong and lasting friendships with a company that treated him like family. He was given many opportunities for advancement and was proud of his accomplishments until he retired in 2000. After 21 years in Philadelphia, Melvin decided to return back to his roots in Miami.

For the next 24 years, Melvin spent his time doing the things he enjoyed most like fishing, playing pool and spending time with the people he loved.

Melvin was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and an exceptional member of his community. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christine Davis Breedlove, Together Christine and Melvin, raised five children: Melvin Breedlove Jr., Veronica Jordan, James Fewquay, Bertram Davis, and Maurice Breedlove. Melvin leaves behind many loved ones included but not limited to his two sisters Odeen Kendrick and Odessa Kendrick. his sisters in law; Eula Mae Roan, Margaret Wright, Earlie Reed; and Brother in law Avon Davis. Melvin also have a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Melvin departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply. In his final years, continuously spoke his faith, and came full circle in his beliefs and recommitted himself to the body of Christ. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Otis and Elois.
