Melvin G. DuncanMETAMORA - Melvin G. Duncan, 76, of Metamora, formerly of El Paso, Ill., passed away at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Heritage Manor in El Paso, Ill. He was born on June 24, 1940, in El Paso, Ill., to Alfred and Myrtle (Moore) Duncan. He married Mary Ann Ritterbusch on July 7, 1962 in El Paso. She survives.Also surviving are his children, David (Kim) Duncan of El Paso, Craig (Debbie) Duncan of Chesterfield, Mo., and Randy (Randy Kay) Duncan of Blue Springs, MO; and grandchildren, Kevin (Vanessa) Gallas and Alex, Brian, and Brody Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alice Dicken.Melvin was a graduate of El Paso High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University and his Master's from Bradley University. Mel taught for 33 years at Metamora Township High School. After his retirement, he continued to be a school bus driver and custodian at the high school and also owned and operated Trophies Plus for 20 plus years. He loved to fish.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Monday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harper Cemetery in rural El Paso.
