Melvin George "Joe" Bell, 87Muncie - Melvin George "Joe" Bell, 87, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2017, at The Woodlands.He was born on May 15, 1929, in Eaton the son of Angus and Anna (Hall) Bell and attended Eaton schools.Joe was employed for thirty years at Muncie-Chevrolet prior to his retirement in 1983. Then he was a grounds keeper at Union Cemetery in Eaton for five years.                He was a member of Avondale Sympathy Club, enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling, and was an avid Larry Bird fan.Surviving are five children, Jeff Bell (wife, Brenda), Albany, Lorrina Temple (husband, Loren), Muncie, Anna Matherly (husband, Paul), Anderson, Kathy Walker (husband, Garland), Portland, and Pamela Blythe, St. Augustine, FL: four step-children, Bryan "Buddy" Carrier, Muncie, Norma Jean Bowden (husband, William), Muncie, Connie Hollowell, Muncie, and Cathy White, Kissimmee, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Jean; a step-son, Randy Lyons; a grandson; four brothers; and three sisters.Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Everett Bilbrey officiating.
