Melvin Kelly WilsonClintonMelvin Kelly Wilson passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, at home with his family present. A memorial service will be held on September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, Ms. with visitation at 10 a.m. preceding the memorial service. Kelly was born on March 3, 1927, to Robert and Carrie Wilson in Sparta, Tn. He was a graduate of Tennessee Technical University in Cookeville, Tn. He and his wife, Lynn, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 24, 2017. Kelly was a retail manager for W.T. Grant Co. stores until 1975 and then for the Rose's store in Pearl, Ms. until his retirement. He and his wife owned and operated the Bresler's Ice Cream Shop at the MetroCenter Mall in Jackson, Ms. for 20 years. He is survived by his four children: daughters, Cathy Chavers and her husband Arnold, Beth Russo, Karen Zimpfer and her husband Doug, and by his son, Scott Wilson and his wife Ellen. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Lee Chavers (Jaclyn), Robert Chavers (Brittany), Rebecca Chavers, Aubrey Richmond, Hannah Delph (Josh), Rachel Wilson, and Corey, Kristen and Grant Zimpfer. In his final year of life he was blessed with a great-grandson, Levi Chavers. He is also survived by his twin sisters, Jannie Ellis and Mary Hensell, 93 years of age, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Ms. Memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Village, P.O.
