Mercedes H. (Anderson) Kelly1936 - 2015Mercedes H. (Anderson) Kelly, 78, of Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away on March 30, 2015, at Baytree Nursing Home. Mercedes was born on June 3, 1936, to the late Roy O. and Viola (Erb) Anderson. She was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wis., moved to Kenosha, and spent her retirement years between Lake Delton, Wis., and Tarpon Springs, Fla. Mercedes met her future husband, Bill, through the Terpsichorean Dance Club. They were united in marriage in Milwaukee on July 13, 1957. Mercedes graduated from North Division High School where she lettered in basketball. She graduated from the Rosemary Overstreet School of Stenography. She later got an LPN license and earned a B.S. degree in business. Mercedes was the first Honorary Member of the Wisconsin Court Reporters Association. She was a member of Toastmasters. She was in Who's Who. She worked as a court reporter until a stroke ended her career. She held a variety of management positions with various businesses. She also prepared taxes for H&R Block. Mercedes loved to cook and was a proud vegetarian. She also enjoyed watching sports especially the Olympics, her favorite was figure skating. She and her husband, Bill, loved to travel. Two of her favorite trips were to Alaska and Australia. As a young family; vacations to Disneyland and Europe and a white water rafting trip with her two children were very special. The trip that topped them all however, was a trip to Disney World with all of her grandchildren. She loved to talk/brag about them to everyone. They were a true joy in her life. Mercedes was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha. She served as treasurer and council president. She loved her time spent with the Stock Yard Kilty Band of Chicago, through her husband who played bagpipes with them. Mercedes is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Edward Kelly; children, Valerie (Gary) Ludlow and Glen (Christy) Kelly; grandchildren, Philip and Peggy Ludlow, Cameron, Brandon and Mackenzie Kelly; she is further survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Anderson; niece, Sandy (Anderson) Miller; nephews, Charlie and Steve Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a brother, Youngvee Anderson. Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church (7104 39th Ave., Kenosha, WI) on May 16, 2015 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Services will immediately follow. A luncheon in the church basement will follow the services. Memorials made to Trinity would be appreciated.The family is truly grateful for the loving care shown to Mercedes throughout her time at Baytree. We would especially like to thank the Hospice Burgundy Team.
