Mia Taylor was born to Gloria and Peter Taylor in New York on November 20, 1968. She was the 3rd of what would later be a total of 11 children. At the age of 18, she moved to Orangeburg, SC with her "second parents" Alice & Harris Nesbitt. Mia worked full time as a manger of different grocery stores and also as a traveling manager. Eventually, Mia would move back to New York to help her mother care for her younger sisters. She eventually convinced her mother to move into her home in Orangeburg, SC where she lived until she fell asleep in death on January 21, 2022.
Mia always showed love in everything she did. She was generous. She was alwaysattentive, patient, and understanding. She never bit her tongue! Sometimes, she "forgot the salt" but her blood and spiritual family knew she meant well. Mia's favorite hobby was reading. When she could no longer travel (which was her second favorite hobby), she spoke of how books allowed her to still explore the world. There was never a time she didn't have a book of some kind in her hand.
Mia always said her greatest joy was serving Jehovah and the best decision she ever made. She was baptized at 10 years old in New York City, andshe became a Regular Pioneer, a full-time minister of the good news, in 1993. While she resided in South Carolina she attended the North Orangeburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.Mia furthered her ministry by learning many languages, American Sign Language, French and Spanish, later becoming a sign language interpreter for her local congregation.
Even during her hospitalization, Mia would mention Jehovah in every conversation. She preached to her nurses while in the hospital. She would sing her favorite kingdom songs and discuss how her home would look in the New World. She enjoyed creation (especially flowers) and would regularly share images of them. She stated how Jehovah's beautiful creation brought her peace.
Mia had no idea of how many lives she's touched in such a positive way. She was always encouraging and easily put a smile on your face. Her jokes and laugh alone would lighten up any mood. She brought joy and encouragement to the lives of many.
Mia will be remembered as a wonderful, kind, generous, funny, protective, and intelligent:
- Daughter
- Sister
- Aunt
- Cousin
- Niece
She will be missed greatly. We all look forward to seeing her again soon.
