With heavy hearts, we announce that Michael George Weigant, age 69, passed away on September 27th 2025 at Providence St. Peter hospital in Olympia Washington surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike was born October 6th 1955, to George Weigant and Gladys-Salesky Weigant. He was the youngest child and only son, with four sisters Judy, Vicky, Georgia and Barb. Mike was proceeded in death by his parents, his oldest sister Judy, and his beloved niece Layla Horton. Mike is remembered by his son's Ryan, Wiley, daughter Rylen, his grandson Braydon and his little dog Meeka. Along with many family members and friends. Mike also enjoyed the time he spent with all of his nieces and nephews while watching them grow into adulthood.

Mike grew up in Centralia, Washington where his parents owned and operated The Hub Tavern on Tower Ave. downtown Centralia from the 1950s until the mid-1980s. They later relocated to Mossyrock Washington, where Mike's parents became the owners and operators of the Pioneer Tavern. Mike spent most of his adulthood in Mossyrock, but than in his later years settled in Onalaska, Washington. 

He worked at the Champion Lumber Mill in Morton, Washington until he changed the direction of his career to carpentry. Afterward, Mike devoted his time and talents to help out at the Pioneer Tavern, including remodeling the building. As a self-taught carpenter, Mike was incredibly skilled and took great pride in his work. Beyond many remodeling projects throughout the state, Mike built two business from the ground up. The first one was Soap and Suds Laundromat, complete with an attached arcade. Later, he opened the Wild Country Sporting Goods store, which featured a stunning floor to ceiling river rock fireplace - each stone hand selected by Mike and constructed by George Seifferman. The fireplace became a local attraction, with many people stopping into admire it. 

His business grew into much more than a store. It became a gathering place for customers, family, and friends both old and new - where stories were shared and memories were made. It's where his heart was at home. Mike was deeply proud of what he built, but nothing meant more than his children, close family, and life long friends.

Mike loved being outdoors and found much joy in fishing, rock hunting, mushroom picking and gardening. Mike had a true gift for gardening and was known for his beautiful, plentiful gardens year after year. He also enjoyed collecting unique items each with its own story. Mike felt deeply blessed by his friendships and family and he shared a particularly strong bond with his sister, Barb Weigant. 

Mike was known for his kind, caring, and fair nature. He was always willing to help anyone in need, yet when asked if he needed help himself, his usual response was, "I'm good, I'm self-sufficient", which meant independent with a touch of stubbornness. Above all Mike had a loving heart, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held February 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mossyrock Grange, 152 Isbell Rd Mossyrock Wa. A potluck reception in Mike's honor will follow. Please come join us, everyone is welcome to gather, share stories, and celebrate Mike’s life.
