Michael H. Engel Age 88, of Burlington passed away Friday February 1, 2013at Aurora Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1924 to Marthin and Helen (nee Choljenski) Engel in Chicago, IL. Michael's early life was spent in Chicago, IL. On June 27, 1953 he was united in marriage to his loving wife Barbara Schatz in Chicago. Following their marriage he was a truck driver in the Chicago area. They moved to Burlington in 1953, where he was part owner of the Palm Gardens. After selling Palm Gardens he was employed at Lavelle Industries up to his retirement. Michael was a coin collector, a dog lover and enjoyed playing cards. He was an honorary Racine County Deputy and a Justice of the Peace in Burlington. Michael is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children: Donna Owens of Niceville, FL, Christine (Mike) Yack of Florence KY, Michael (Lillian) Engel of Burlington, WI, Martin (Jan) Engel of New Richmond, Michelle (Bill) Larson of Burlington and Paul (Patsy) Engel of Watertown. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. A Memorial service will take place on Monday February 4, 2013 at 7:00PM at the Schuette -Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bolling officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday February 4, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00PM.
