Michael J. Rock, 54 of Pittsville, MD, left us too soon and entered eternal rest on August 15, 2019 .
Michael was the husband of Elaine Dorn with whom he shared the past 22 years of his life.
Michael was born January 16, 1965 in Bristol, PA the son of Rita Regina (Kroscavage) Rock and the late Frederick Martin Rock.
Michael attended St. Michael the Archangel Grade School in Tullytown, PA, and graduated from Bishop Egan High School in Fairless Hills, PA.
Michael served in the United States Army/Reserves from 1982 to 1988 while working in the Home Improvement Industry. Eventually Mike started his own business installing garage doors for commercial and residential customers.
Michael retired with Elaine to a small farm in Maryland, where they enjoyed raising chickens, goats, and pigs along with their horses and 2 dogs. Mike loved all aspects of the outdoors including hunting, fishing and kayaking. In addition, Mike and Elaine enjoyed gardening and preserving vegetables and fruits, as well as smoking meats. Mike liked to concoct many interesting and unique items such as jams, jellies, smoked flavored jalapeno peppers, and flavored moon shine and often gave them to family and friends for the Holidays. Mike also enjoyed cooking different meals for his family from the grill and smoker, to include various soups and stews.
Mike was a caring and fun-loving person who enjoyed the company of family and friends. He was a strong person and was always willing to lend a hand to help a friend or family member in need. Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laugh, strong political views, great stories, and his shennanigans.
Mike is survived by his Mother, Rita Regina (Kroscavage) Rock, his loving wife Elaine and their three children, Lorraine, Jeanette, and Christopher. He is also survived by their grandchildren, Kierstin, Rayna, Ella, Daniellie, Isabella, and Aiden, and his six siblings, Rita J. Rock Ketner, Frederick M. Rock, Bernice M. Rock-Spatola, Maria C. Rock Stapenell, Thomas A. Rock, and Martin F. Rock. Mike is predeceased by his sister Ann Marie Willis. Mike was a favorite uncle and will be missed by Carmen DeMarco, Nicole DeMarco, Yvonne Rock Takahashi, Fred Rock Jr., Michael Spatola, Gabriella Spatola, Adam Stapenell, Michael Stapenell, Christian Stapenell, Lisa Rock Kluger, Danielle Willis Piccioni, Dawn Willis, Cassie Willis, and T.J. Willis.
A Memorial Service for Michael J. Rock will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Lighthouse Church, 1248 Route 9 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. All are invited to attend.
