June 20, 1949-Oct. 5, 2016Mr. Michael James Thomason, age 67, of Cumming, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow in Sawnee View Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, from 12:30-1 p.m. The Rev. Gary Huff will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Thomason was born on June 20, 1949, in Miami, Fla., to the late Clyde Thomason Jr. and Patricia Ripley Thomason. He was retired from Hormel and was a member of Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene. He proudly served in the United States Marines and earned a Purple Heart in the Vietnam War.
