JEROME--Michael A. Early Monday morning the world lost a man of the people. Michael A. Jerome died after a 19-month struggle against pancreatic cancer. He was 64. His wife Elise and son Gabriel were at his bedside. His brothers were nearby. Michael was born on January 13, 1952, in Colton, CA and raised in White Plains, NY. A recent retiree, Michael played an active role in the Transit Workers Union, the WFTU and his housing co-op board. He was an outspoken activist against injustice and a voracious reader. He kept up to date in global politics and encouraged those around him to do the same. Among his many interests were Mike's endless curiosity for the worldly sciences, his passion for the great outdoors, as well as corny dad jokes. He was a machinist by trade and even at home, he loved to build and create. He is survived by his wife Elise de Jong, his son Gabriel, his brothers David, Jonathan and Richard, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. His humor, will, and strength of character will be sorely missed. Since he decided to donate his body to science, no funeral was held. A memorial will be held in early December. In lieu of flowers, the US Peace Council, PO Box 3105, New Haven, CT 06515 and the Center for Science in the Public Interest, 1220 L St. NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20005, will be accepting donations on Michael's behalf. We encourage everyone to donate.
