Johnson, Michael L.Michael L. Johnson, age 69, of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah. Mike was born on March 4, 1947, in Neenah, to Margaret A. (Broderick) Johnson and the late Donald M. Johnson. He married Mary Sommerhalder on August 12, 1988, in San Diego, California. Mike was a 1965 graduate of Winneconne High School, where he participated in basketball, track and field, and cross country. He later played baseball and basketball in leagues in various parts of the country over the years. Mike was a 1969 graduate of UW-Whitewater, on the Dean's Honor List with a BBA degree in Marketing and Economics. He also attended Graduate Business School at Fairleigh Dickenson University in New Jersey and as a MSBA candidate at the University of North Carolina. Michael was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Mike was employed as a marketing and sales executive with Mercury Marine in North Carolina, Oklahoma, California and Wisconsin. He formed M.L. Johnson and Co. Inc. in 1986 in San Diego, California with his brother James. The firm is a manufacturer's representative company in the commercial construction industry. During career, Mike earned the #1 Regional Sales Manager Award many times, as well as the Outstanding Sales Achievement Award. He earned the Executive of the Year Award from the Professional Secretaries Association in Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mary; his mother, Margaret Johnson; his children, Dr. Lisa (Dr. Vincent) Farhood, Christopher (Rhonda) Johnson, Jeffrey (Sheila) Geitner and Erin (Tim) Ross; his sisters, Cindy (Gene) Coy, Linda (Jerry) Charapata, Susan (Steve) Elbing and Jane (Randy) Podgorski; his brothers, James (JoEllen) Johnson and Jack (Anna) Johnson; his grandchildren, Allison and Catelyn Farhood; Lauren and Drew Johnson; Kennedy, Jackson and Jacob Geitner; Tanner, Tristan and Taylor Ross. Memorial services for Mike will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME--TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha, with Rev. Catherine Mode officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Sherwood.
