Michael Lee Haas, 54, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at CHS-Northeast in Concord following a brief illness.He was born on April 24, 1962 in Milwaukee, WI, to Leroy and Geraldine Roberts Haas. Michael graduated from Lawrenceville Prep School in Lawrenceville, NJ and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Miami, FL. He was retired with General Mills, Inc., after serving from 1985 to 2015. Michael was a member of Lake Norman Lutheran Church in Denver, NC. He won consecutive World Championships in Rib Barbequing, "Memphis in May", in 2003 and 2004. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a dedicated husband, father, and son.In addition to his parents, Leroy and Gerri Haas of Jensen Beach, FL, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kimberly Breeding Haas; children, Tara Haas of the home, Jessica Haas of Memphis, TN, Michael Haas, Jr. of Memphis, TN currently resides in LA while attending USC Gould School of Law; sister, Pamela Haas of Boston, MA; and brother, Brad Haas of Austin, TX.A Memorial service will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to , 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or Operation North State, 151 Windemere Court, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 and/or charity of donor's choice.Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Haas family.
