Michael Lee Sigman Obituary

A Life Well Lived
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Lee Sigman, a beloved husband, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, and respected member of the Austin community. He was born on March 16, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas, to his loving parents, Carl and Alice Sigman.
Growing up on a farm in Fort Worth, they would often have equipment that would break down. This led to Michael and his dad having to often repair the machines and equipment. He quickly delevoped a love for engineering and decided that was what he wanted his career to be. Michael embarked on his educational journey at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where he nurtured his passion for learning. He excelled academically, and his dedication and perseverance led him to graduate in 1970 with honors. Wanting to pursue higher education, he enrolled at the prestigious University of Texas at Austin, where he further deepened his love for learning, engineering, and Texas BBQ.
Michael's life "brightened" when he met the love of his life, Louise, in their college calculus class. Once they met, they became inseparable and they were joined in holy matrimony in 1978. They settled in Austin since that was the place they fell in love. Together, they shared a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for each other throughout their marriage. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children, Kenneth, Paul, and Amy. Michael cared deeply for his children and wanted the best for them. Sadly in 1989, Kenneth was diagnosed with Leukemia and later died in January of 1990. At the time the Make-A-Wish foundation was just getting started so Michael did not find out about it until a few years later. Once Michael learned of this great organization he donated any extra money he had to help kids in need because he knew the feeling of having one of your children be diagnosed with a terminal illness.
As a doting grandfather, he reveled in the time he shared with his six beloved grandchildren, Jackson, Caleb, and Sadie Sigman, Annabel, Tyler, and Sophie Johnson. Whether it was going fishing off of the pier, playing flag football in the backyard, or simply showering them with love. He cherished every precious moment spent with them. His grandchildren were a constant source of happiness and inspiration, and they brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Mike will forever be remembered as a remarkable individual who touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him. His warm smile, kindheartedness, and genuine love for his family leave an indelible mark on our hearts. We find solace in the memories we shared and are comforted knowing that he will live on through his legacy in our hearts.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, his children, his cherished grandchildren, and his many close friends. His memory will continue to be celebrated and treasured by all those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held on July 22. at Austin Oaks. His burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers we ask that memorial donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation as Mike was very passionate about making wishes come true for those in need.
