Michael SteckPrairie City, IAMichael Lee Steck, 64, of Prairie City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge, IA. Michael was born on February 9th, 1952 in Fort Dodge. He grew up and graduated from Fort Dodge High School. Michael was united in marriage to Pamela Jean Pohl on June 19, 1970. He and his family moved to the Des Moines area in 1988. He enjoyed a successful 43 years as an accomplished journeyman electrician and took pride and care in servicing several government buildings including the Des Moines Capital Building as part of his repertoire until his retirement in 2013. Michael enjoyed wine & beer making, tinkering with computers and electronics, and always celebrated his favorite holidays of Christmas and the 4th of July with friends, family, generous enthusiasm and always with laughter. Michael is survived by his parents Daryle and Marlene Steck of Fort Dodge; his wife Pam of Prairie City, IA; daughters Crystal (Chris) Wendell of Badger, IA and Sheryl Steck of Colfax, IA; his son Lance Steck of Ankeny; grandchildren Tawnya and Kirsten Wendell, Shyann Steck and her brothers Teagan and Tevin Dybevic; his brothers Rod Cartee of Anniston, AL, Matt Steck of Fort Dodge and Mark (Valerie) Steck of Harcourt, IA; his sister Deb (Jim) Gilbert of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his father Mick Cartee.He was immensely loved and will be missed even more. Memorials may be left to the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa.
