SACO - Michael T. Fogarty, 53, passed away peacefully in his home in Saco on Wednesday, the 23rd of November.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1962 in Rochester, New Hampshire, to Ann and Tim Fogarty.
Michael was a beloved son, uncle, coach and friend to many, but his proudest moments and greatest achievements came with being a father. This relationship grew stronger with each passing day and undoubtedly defined who he was as a man.
From an early age, athletics were an instrumental part of Michael's life. Through high school and into college, his talent and presence inspired many, both on and off the court. He shared his love for the game with his daughter and so many players across the state. However, it was not only about creating quality athletes, it was about molding quality people. Everywhere he went he turned friendship into family. From Sanford to Farmington, Boothbay to Houlton, and back, he shared his lust for life and love of the game.
Fogarty worked as a senior director of Maine Medical Partners - Maine Health Cardiology. He was a proud member of the Elks Club. Michael enjoyed spending time on his Harley, on the golf course, as well as on any bleacher or sideline.
Michael is now watching over and guiding: his daughter, Amanda Fogarty; parents, Ann and Tim Fogarty; sister, Kathy Wadden; nephew, Devon Fogarty and children; and niece, Maeghan Foley and children.
Visiting hours will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at the Houlton Elk's Lodge 1 p.m. Dec. 11.
In lieu of flowers, I'd like to keep my dad's spirit and love for athletics alive. You can make a donation to a scholarship fund in his memory here at youcaring.com/scholarshipinmemoryofmichaelfogarty-701009.
