Michelle Hicks quietly slipped away from her family early Thursday morning, June 21, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. Michelle Hicks was born on August 25, 1966, in Pensacola, Florida. She was the fifth of nine children, born to the late Denise Dugan Tecumseh and James V. Hicks. Known as "Mimi" by her family and friends. Michelle was a joyous person full of energy and excitement. Dull moments were considered a rarity to Michelle. Rarely was there an instant when Michelle wasn't singing, dancing, or just making someone laugh with her jokes. Michelle was artistically creative with a flair for vibrant designs as she had a unique style. She loved to sketch and color. She attended San Pasqual High School and Yuma High School. She will be loved and missed by her father James V. Hicks, of Chicago, IL; children Gary Gray (Tanika) of Newport News, VA, Markale Payne of San Diego; Cashae Woods (Derrick), of San Diego, Andre Matthews, of Phoenix, AZ. Kristen Peddie, of Phoenix, AZ, Paris Hicks of Sacramento, CA, and Haylie Walcott, of Philadelphia, PA; And 11 grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and relatives; Our very special Aunt Marianna Bobtailbear, Siblings, Angela Adams, Lawrencia Griffin (David), Andre Hicks (Maria), Dajuan Hicks, Tanya Dixon, Sam Strickland, and Darnella Melancon (David). She was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Dugan Tecumseh, and her sister Nedra Yvette Armstrong.
