Mildred Randle Evans, 93, died on November 9, 2015 in Kingwood, Tx. She was born on December 15, 1921, in Luray, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Evans, her son Terry Evans, her parents, Rueul and Anna Randle, and her six siblings. She was an athlete and, despite being diminutive, played women's basketball in Junior High and High School and was a firm believer in the importance of womens' sports in education. She married Charlie S. Evans on September 2, 1940. She told great stories about her days working at the munitions factory in Burlington, Iowa, during World War II. She was a scrappy, outspoken spitfire and her nicknames included, Tuffy, Cottontop and Newt. Mildred worked over 25 years for Sheller Globe, retiring in 1986. She lived in Keokuk, Iowa, for most of her life. In 2005 she moved to Kingwood, Tx, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Evans Head and Del Head. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Shirley Evans Wing and her grandchildren, Sheila Head and wife Norma Lana, Stephanie Evans, Debra Evans Gonzalez, Brian Head and wife Katya Titenko Head, and Kimberly Evans.
