Mildred Halcomb, lovingly known to her family as "Grannie" age 96, longtime Altus resident passed away Saturday, May, 6, 2017 in Altus, Okla.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1920 in Hollis, Okla., the daughter of Walter Chenault and Mable Mott Chennault.
She married Bose Halcomb on Feb. 10, 1938 in Altus and together they lived and raised their family in Altus until he preceded her in death in 1992.
Mildred was an accomplished homemaker. A wonderful cook with some of her specialties being cornbread dressing and fried potatoes known to the grandchildren as grannie taters. She enjoyed watching baseball, working word search puzzles and reading the newspaper which kept her up with current events. Grannie loved her family very much. She enjoyed taking care of them and was very proud of their accomplishments. She will be greatly missed but we rejoice in knowing she is finally reunited with her beloved Bose.
