Mildred H. Olszewski1931 - 2015Mildred H. Olszewski, 84, of Stevens Point, Wis., passed away at North Ridge assisted living on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015.She was born on June 7, 1931, in Chicago, Ill. Her parents were Joseph and Sophia (Gonsiorowski) Lewandowski. Her father was a native of the town of Dewey and her mother was from Stevens Point.Millie attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School and graduated from St. Columbkille High School in Chicago.At the age of 13, she began her life-long career in the retail business. At age 77, she retired from Grubba Jewelers in Stevens Point.On Oct. 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Florian J. Olszewski at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Chicago. They were married for 59 years. Florian preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2009, in Stevens Point.Survivors are their children, Fred of Kenosha, Judith (Jeff Thomas) of Kenosha, and Michael (Patricia) of Janesville; a grandson, Nicholas; step grandson, Joshua; step granddaughter, Cynthia. Other survivors are dear friends, nieces and nephews, and many cousins whose friendships she cherished.Further survived by her sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Walter Peterson of Wisconsin Dells; her sister, Elaine and brother-in-law Ken Zalewski of Mosinee; and her sister, Dorothy Napiwocki of Mosinee.In addition to her parents and husband, Millie was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard and Clifford; and sisters, Arlene and Lorraine.Millie was a member of St. Peter's Church and the Rosary Society (Rose #4). She loved to dance, especially the Obereks and Polkas. A crochet needle and thread were always nearby, as she kept her hands busy. Her home and lily garden were her pride and joy.Millie believed the "greatest gift in life" was to "love and be loved." She always had a ready hug and smile to give to all.Private services will be held. She will be buried alongside her husband, Florian, in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
