CAMARILLO, CA - On the 13th of July 2016, Mildred (Millie) Ruth Recupero passed away at St. Johns Hospital in Camarillo, California. She was 92 years old. Millie passed from heart failure. She was born on October 31st, 1923 in the city of Racine, Wisconsin, where she was raised by her parents Louis and Helen Conrad; immigrants from Czechoslovakia. Millie took pride in her background heritage and really embraced the fact that she was Czech and felt we her family should also be proud of that heritage. Her parents also raised four siblings: George, Helen, Alice and Carol. Millie attended and graduated at Horlick High School in Racine in 1942. During the war she began working as a switchboard operator and later working for Zahns Department Store. She began a new career as a Beautician and successfully completed Beauty college. During this time, she also met Santo J. Recupero, and were married on October 12th, 1946 in Racine, Wisconsin. After beauty school she was employed at Magic Scissors Beauty Shop in Racine Wisconsin and remained there for 34 years until retirement in 1978. Santo (SJ) and Millie raised their four children in Racine, Wisconsin; Sandra (Brkich), of Woodland Hills, California, David Recupero, of Beaumont California, Susan (Stewart) of Camarillo, California, and Thomas Recupero, of Fountain Valley, California. After retirement, Santo and Millie decided to move to California to be closer to their eldest daughter Sandy Brkich and near to their only grandchild at the time. They settled in Camarillo where she would spend the remainder of her life. She led a very busy, and hard-working life as a wife, mother and all the responsibilities that comes with maintaining a home. She always found time to bake and cook a home-made meal before going off to her job in the evening hours at the beauty shop. Millie was a unique woman. She was an exceptional wife to her husband, and mother to her children. Her family meant everything to her, and she gave all of herself for them. She loved being around people. She cared about what was going on in their lives. She was a kind and considerate woman, and people thought highly of her. She was a mother to those who needed a mother, and a friend to those who needed a friend. She was a hard worker, for she believed that every minute of the day was valuable. She completely wore herself out by being productive in everything she put her hands to. Millie will be greatly missed by us all, for she was loved dearly but profoundly remembered by her amazing talents in cooking, baking and gardening. Millie is survived by her husband, Santo J. Recupero, two sisters: Alice and Carol, four children (and their spouses): Sandra Brkich (with Michael Brkich), David Recupero (with Kathy Recupero), Susan Stewart (with David Stewart), and Thomas Recupero (with Joy Recupero); nine grandchildren: Jason Brkich, Tiffany Brkich, Jeremy Recupero, Kristen Miller (with her husband Jonathan Miller), Lisa Recupero, Nicholas Recupero (with his fiancée and soon-to-be wife, Kimberly Vasser) and Erika Recupero; two step grandchildren: Haewon Rebekah Gramm Li and Samuel Li; and one great grandchild: Sophia Recupero.
