Mildred Singer NochimsonMildred Singer Nochimson, daughter of Rose and Benjamin Singer (pre-deceased), and sister of Eunice Cohen (pre-deceased), passed away from natural causes at her home on July 18 at the age of 104. She was born on July 13, 1913 in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, and with the exception of her high school and college years, lived a long and productive life in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Mildred graduated from Paterson Eastside High School in 1930 and from Syracuse University in 1934. She taught junior high school after graduation until 1937. In 1936, she married Sam Nochimson, who was a well-known attorney and municipal judge as well as serving as President of the Chilton Memorial Hospital. Mildred was active in Hadassah, the Pompton Lakes Women's Club and Congregation Beth Shalom. After Sam died in 1985, Mildred worked at Lord & Taylor for over 15 years. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Stein (and her husband, Stephen Stein), of New York City and her son, David Nochimson, of Santa Monica, California. Memorial services will be held at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, W-150 Route 4 East, Paramus, New Jersey, on July 30 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred's memory may be made to the Chilton Medical Center Foundation, Pompton Plains, New Jersey 07444.
