Miles Monk Caddell passed away at Carlsbad Medical Center on July 21, 2017. A life-long resident of Carlsbad, Miles was devoted to his family, his Carlsbad ISD students, his three beloved furry, cold nosed children, his classic cars and car club family. Miles was born on August 13, 1962 to Bobby Hurl Caddell and Suzanne L. Caddell in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Miles served Carlsbad ISD for 25 years as a science teacher and a Vice Principal. Many Carlsbad student lives were deeply touched and changed by his contagious faith in everyone, his unfathomable enthusiasm, his transcendent empathy and compassion, and his mission to nurture young people into seeing their own value while pursuing their dreams. Miles owned several classic cars and enjoyed entering them into local and regional car shows. Miles was an active member of the Carlsbad Automotive Restoration Society and the Dirt Dobber's car club. He was the treasurer of the Renaissance Program. He loved playing Bunco with friends and was restoring his Grandad's old house. Mostly, Miles loved simple time with his family. He is survived by his sister Kay Caddell and spouse, Sabine Rakos of Flower Mound, Texas; aunt, Carol Lofton; close cousins and their spouses, Rhonda and Troy Hatch, Owen and Jodi Lofton, Travis and Tahnee Hatch, Stephen and Brooke Cannon; cousins, Sierra Hatch and Brandon Lofton, all of Carlsbad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Noah's Ark and the Renaissance program. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Kevin Pence of First Baptist Church officiating. No graveside service is scheduled. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at
