Millicent "Millie" Lynn Hanley Jones McRae74, passed away on January 10, 2017. Millie, a native Hoosier, was born on October 14, 1942, to the late Dr. Ralph and Ruby Jacqueline "Jackie" Hanley. She was a 1960 graduate of Shortridge High School and a member of the
Indiana University Alumni.In 1967, she was joined in holy matrimony to Garland Jones, Jr. and from that union, Garland III and Gina Lynn were born. In 1978, Millie married Robert McRae and Millie gave birth to Robin. Millie enjoyed over 30 years of employment with
General Motors Company. While raising her children, she also preciously worked at Indianapolis Life Insurance Company; Bolden and Mann, Attorneys at Law; Indiana State Legislature and a substitute Spanish Teacher for I.P.S. For several years, with her second husband, Robert, she co-owned and operated McRae's Seafood, while still being employed at GM.Millie was a lifelong and faithful servant of St Philip's Episcopal Church, where she served as Senior Warden, over several years. She was a member of the choir, fund raising, finance and search committees.Millie was a past member of the Les Ami's social club, St Elisabeth's Guild and a 40+ year member of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Links, Inc. Millie is survived by her three children, Garland Jones III, Gina Lynn Jones Barnett (Robin) and Robin McRae; grandchildren, RaeShauna Jones Demmings (Brandon), Kingston Garland Jones; two great-grand children, Breshon and Bresen; sister, Rhoda Hanley Stuart Keough (Thomas); nephew, Todd; niece Jacqueline; cousins, J. Frank Hanley (Katye) and Jay Michael Smith (Lucia).A Resurrection Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12 Noon, in St Philip's Episcopal Church, 720 Dr. Martin Luther King Street, with calling from 10:00 to time of service. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the building fund of St Philip's Episcopal Church, 720 Dr. Martin Luther King Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.Final arrangements have been entrusted to Stuart Mortuary, Inc.
