MINA MARIE GOTHAM, 94 SHELBYVILLE - Mina Marie (Kuehl) Gotham, 94, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL. Mina was born on March 5, 1920, in Germany and immigrated to the United States with her older brother, Dick, in 1928. She spent her formative years in South Dakota, and then moved to Wisconsin in 1936. She met and married William Gotham in 1940, and had four beautiful children. Mina, affectionately known by her siblings as "Dips," lived in various parts of Illinois throughout her life, but called Freeport her home. It was here that she established many friendships and became a devoted member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, Mina had many accomplishments including: Managing the Steakburger Inn in Galena, IL; employment with Micro-Switch (Honeywell) for several years and was also a gifted seamstress. She loved to dance, sing, read, play cards and garden. She is survived by her children, Steven D. Gotham, Annette E. Ward (Bill), Douglas J. Gotham (Karen); daughter-in-law, Priscilla Gotham; twelve grandchildren, Susan E. Abderhalden, Krista M. Ward (Maire Foxx), Scott A. Gotham, Jennifer L. Meitus (Chris), Heidi A. Bruns (Brad), Steven W. Gotham, William J. Ward, Timothy A. Gotham, Robert G. Gotham, Andrew P. Gotham, Jaime L. Gotham (Ryan Caden), and Christopher M. Gotham; five great- grandchildren, Brianna N. Abderhalden, Jakob R. Abderhalden, Avery A. Bruns, Reese E. Bruns and Laine A. Ward; her sisters, Dorothy Kolasch, Adela Burk, Esther Schlichting Wand (Wayne), Elsie Kunz and Shirley Sincox (Keith); her brother, Dean Kuehl; sister-in-law, Doreen Kuehl; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Gotham; son, Rodger J. Gotham; daughter-in-law, Linda Gotham; brothers, Dietrich "Dick" Kuehl, Walter Kuehl, Otto Kuehl; brothers-in-law, Norman Kolasch, Milton Burk, John Schlichting, and Melvin Kunz; sisters-in-law, Ada Kuehl and Jan Kuehl; and, her longtime companion and dancing partner, Floyd Linneman.
