Miriam CooperJanuary 1, 1937 - February 26, 2015Miriam Alma Cooper, 78 years of age of Salmon, Idaho and formerly of Pocatello, Idaho passed away on February 26, 2015 under the care of Hospice in Salmon. She was born on January 1, 1937 in Napoleon, Ohio the daughter of Carl W. and Clara (Hoffman) Gerken. Miriam was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township of Napoleon, Ohio.Miriam was a graduate of Ridgeville Corners High School, Ohio, attended Concordia College at River Forest, Illinois and received a degree from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. On May 26, 1961 she married Gerald Cooper. She was a teacher at Grace Lutheran School and public Schools in Pocatello until her retirement. Currently she was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church of Salmon.She is survived by her husband Gerald "Jerry" Cooper of Salmon; their children: Gayle (Dee) Adair of Salmon, Idaho, Dean (Kathy) Cooper of Seattle, Washington and son in law Bill Brant; sisters: Dorothy (Harold) Kern of Rushville, Indiana, Lydia (Eldon) Hopkins of Spokane, Washington, Esther (David) Plassman of Napoleon, Ohio, Judith Gerken of Rocky Hill, Connecticut and Eunice McPherson of St. Louis, Missouri; sister in law Carol Gerken of Napoleon, Ohio; many grandchildren; nieces and nephews and recent care givers Cheryl Horner and Tauny Keavney.She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Leigh Brant, brothers: August (Pauline), Paul and Norman Gerken, sister Ruth (Lester) Maassel and brother in law Lyle McPherson.Miriam's wishes were for cremation.
