Mirto Ortiz, 82, of Kenner, Louisiana, passed peacfully Monday, January 06, 2020. Mirto was born in Manicaragua Las Villas Cuba on June 27, 1937 to Miguel Ortiz and Maria Herminia Hurtado. He was an auxiliary police officer in Cuba before coming to the United States in 1970. He became a citizen of the United States and took much pride in his new country. He lived in Miami for some time before moving to New Orleans (Kenner) where he worked for Schwegmann's and A&P Grocers. Mirto enjoyed singing, coloring, going to the casino, playing the lottery and scratch off tickets.
He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 54 years, Ada Casanova Ortiz. Also, his son, Michael Ortiz (Jamie Raziano Ortiz) and two grandsons, Alex Michael and Lucas James whom he adored and loved dearly. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Divine Mercy Church on Saturday, February 1 at 11am. Friends and family are invited to attend.
