SHIPSHEWANA — Morgan Lee Hunter, 12, of Shipshewana, Indiana, died Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Shipshewana due to injuries from an auto accident. Morgan was born on November 14, 2002 in LaGrange, Indiana, to Andrew Nolan and Laura J. (Pearson) Hunter. Morgan was a seventh-grader at Westview Jr. High in Emma, Indiana, where she played volleyball. She was a member of LaGrange County 4-H and AWANA youth group. A statement from the school given to the Goshen News stated: "Morgan had an incredibly infectious smile. Her positive energy and friendliness were shared with everyone. Morgan was actively involved with sports and supporting her older brothers." Lauren McCoy, Morgan's English teacher, spoke fondly of the seventh-grader. "Morgan was a student who radiated with kindness, laughter and a contagious love of life. Her laughter and outgoing personality was felt by all who knew her. While Morgan was fairly quiet in the classroom, the hallway bubbled with her chatter. She had a cute habit of always talking to herself at her locker in between every class period about something she needed to remember for class or humming lyrics to a song. Since Morgan's locker was right next to my classroom, I was able to see her in her most natural element: slightly frenzied but always chipper and upbeat. Just yesterday, Morgan mumbled to herself how she had somehow hurt her hand on her locker. I started to question her about it, but before I could say anything, in a joking manner with a grin on her face, she told me, 'Don't even ask me how it happened because I don't even know.' The daily little conversations I shared with Morgan at her locker are what I will miss the most. Her random comments, jokes, and innocence brought many smiles to my face throughout the time I knew her. Her presence will be missed by all." Social studies teacher Ryan Yoder spoke highly of Morgan. "I will always remember Morgan perched up in her chair with a smile on her face (during) first period every morning. She always had a smile on her face." Annie Green, study hall teacher for Morgan, described her as polite, loving and kind. "Morgan was a student that worked hard, always striving for good grades. She would help others. (She was) polite and very respectable to all. Morgan will be greatly missed." Science teacher Jennifer Nichols liked the 12-year-old's sense of humor. "Morgan was a joy in the classroom. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a ready smile. She could lift your spirits with her special giggle." Surviving are her parents, Andrew and Laura Hunter of Shipshewana; four brothers, Dominique N. Hunter of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Lucas N. Hunter, Isaac N. Hunter, and Joshua N. Hunter all of Shipshewana, Indiana; her grandparents, Jean Pearson of Shipshewana, Indiana and Larry and Cook Pearson of Wolcottville, Indiana; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter N. and Dixie Lee Hunter. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Shore Mennonite Church, 7235 W 100 N, Shipshewana, Indiana, with Lay Minister of Youth Dennis Berkey officiating.
