Mother Shirley Temple McCants was born October 14, 1937 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene (Betty) Green of Monroeville, Alabama. She was a native of Monroeville, Alabama and a resident of San Antonio, Texas, Prichard, Alabama, and Mobile, Alabama. She moved to Mobile, Alabama where she received the holyghost at the age of 14 years old under the leadership of Bishop Bailey of Mason Memorial COGIC. She joined Adam Street AOH Church which moved and changed the church name to Phillips Temple AOH under the leadership of Bishop W. T. Phillips. On November 8, 1956 she married the love of her life LaFayette McCants. To this union was born 5 children.

Mother McCants lived in San Antonio, Texas 42 years, where she was a Mother of the church Gethsemane AOH Church in San Antonio, Texas under the leadership of Pastor V. Mackey. She also was the piano/organist of the church. She was employed at Kelly Air Force Base and she did Home Health for EODC. She loved sewing clothes and quilts. She did many crafts like making dolls, pillows, etc.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband LaFayette McCants. She leaves to mourn her loss, three devoted sons Michael McCants Prichard, Alabama, Vincent McCants(LuLu) San Antonio, Texas, and Sheraton McCants San Antonio, Texas, two devoted daughters LaTricia (Leroy) Rankin Mobile, Alabama and Sherita McCants San Antonio, Texas. Two devoted Aunts Willie Ann Gilmer & Swanee Snowden Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Devoted cousin Diann Walker Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Devoted friends, Saints of Gethsemane San Antonio, Texas, Annie Mae Bush, Sis. Turk Axis, Alabama, Sis. Gilmore, Tracey San Antonio, Texas, brother-in-law Charles Odom I Mobile, Alabama, brother-in-law John Odom Chicago, Illinois, sister-in-law Earline Davis Citronelle, Alabama. She is survived by 60 grandchildren. Loving and devoted grandaughters Shirley Rankin Mobile, AL, Christine (Cleveland) Phillips Texas, Tiffany(Philip) Petit San Antonio Texas, Bettie, Roytrice, Latricia,Victoria Mobile, AL Sade, Jennifer,Sheraeton, Tias San Antonio, Texas, devoted grandsons Leroy Rankin Jr.(Antonique) Arizona, Larry/Zeabdee Rankin Mobile, AL, Paul San Antonio, Texas and  and a host of great grand children and great great granchildren.
