Muriel Plimpton HaleOctober 12, 2017Muriel Plimpton Hale, 91, of Owls Head, Maine and Fort Myers passed on peacefully October 12, 2017 in Damariscotta, ME. Muriel was born on March 5, 1926 in Barre Vermont. She attended the University of Vermont and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Syracuse University. Muriel and Jay Roger Plimpton married on August 24, 1946. They made their home in Augusta Maine, where they raised 5 daughters. While Jay established his medical practice, Muriel began her music Ministry with the Green Street Methodist Church. She initiated music programs for all ages, and enriched the community with her choral directing and exceptional organ music. Muriel also taught in the Augusta Public School System for many years.She inspired excellence and appreciation of the arts in all of her students.During her last years at Cony High school, her beloved Jay passed away suddenly. She continued on to teach her young charges to love music. Later she married Chester (Chet) Hale who shared her enthusiasm of dancing, travel, and friends.The two retired to Fort Myers, Florida and Owls Head, Maine. Muriel's continued passion for music made even her retirement a musical one. She was choir director and organist of St. Peter Lutheran church in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and shared her gift throughout the community. She also contributed to the music program at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Rockland, Maine where she and Chet attended in the summer months. Her infectious smile and love of life drew people to her and she easily enlisted those around her. Muriel deeply appreciated all who helped in realizing her dreams. In addition to her many family members, Muriel will be missed by her friends in Florida who meant the world to her and by all those she touched with her music.Donations in her memory can be sent to: St. Peters Lutheran Church 3751 Estero Blvd Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
