Murphy Kanipe, beloved husband of Corona Caldwell-Kanipe, devoted father of Rachel Caldwell, Margaret Kanipe, and Steven Kanipe, passed away on May 27, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Murphy was born on December 5, 1959 to Fred and Katie Sue Kanipe.

Murphy attended Freedom High School and went on to make a successful career in the furniture industry, working for prestigious companies such as Drexel Furniture and Baker Furniture. He eventually retired from Burke County Public Schools in 2012.

Aside from his professional success, Murphy was known for his love of sports. He not only enjoyed playing sports but also dedicated his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes. Murphy volunteered as a coach and mentor for Oak Hill Recreation and also served as a basketball referee for more than 15 years.

Murphy will be remembered for his kind heart, love for his family, and passion for helping others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
