Murphy Kanipe, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on May 25, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 65.

He was born on December 5, 1959, to Fred and Katie-Sue Kanipe in Charlotte, North Carolina. Murphy was married to his loving wife, Corona Caldwell-Kanipe, for 30 years. Together, they raised three children: Rachel Caldwell, Margaret Kanipe, and Steven Kanipe.

Murphy attended Freedom High School and went on to make a successful career in the furniture industry, working for Drexel Furniture and Baker Furniture before retiring from Burke County Public Schools in 2012.

Outside of his professional life, Murphy was known for his love of sports, particularly football and basketball. He dedicated his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes at Oak Hill Recreation and served as a basketball referee for over 15 years.

Murphy Kanipe will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
