Marie S.NielsonCedar CityMarie S.Nielson was born on June 9, 1939 in Redmond Utah. Her parents were Henry and Reva Sorensen. Marie passed away on March 10, 2017 in St. George, Utah at the age of 77.Marie graduated from North Sevier High School in 1957. Marie married Gary Farland Nielson in 1958. Marie and Gary enjoyed square dancing in Salt Lake and Cedar City. They were blessed with two children. They were later divorced.Marie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many callings. Marie served a church service mission from Feb 2004 to Feb 2006 at the LDS Cedar City North Stake Center in data input.She worked at Southern Utah University for 25 years. She started in 1991 and retired in 2004.Marie enjoyed embroidery work, scrapbooks and writing true short stories. She also enjoyed making Barbie doll kits, tablecloths and lap quilts. Her family received many of her beautiful homemade items.In her later years, she enjoyed going to senior citizens and joining in on their activities.She is survived by her children Robert Gary "Bob" Nielson of Washington, UT and Janet (Wayne) Aiken of Lehi, UT. She has three grandchildren Justin (Samantha) Aiken, Tiffany Aiken and Kayla (Jonathan) Robison. She has one great granddaughter Avery Aiken. She is also survived by one sister Carla (David) Myrup and her two nephews Brody and Tyler Myrup.The family would like to thank Dixie Hospice for their wonderful and loving care.Funeral will be Saturday, March 18 at the Old Rock Church (75 East Center, Cedar City, UT). Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10-10:45 am, with the funeral at 11:00 am.
