Myron TuschenMyron Tuschen, 83, of Salem, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 1, 2017. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Sunday with a 3 pm rosary at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem followed by a 7 pm prayer service at St. Mary's.Myron Henry, son of Clarence and Irene (Bies) Tuschen was born on Wednesday, February 28, 1934 on the family farm near Salem, SD. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School for 9 years and 3 years at Salem Public High School graduating in 1952 and continued farming with his dad.Myron (Mike) married MaryAnn Healy at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Montrose on June 25, 1959. They moved onto a farm across the road from his parent's farm. Tuschen's M & W Corporation was formed with his brother Wayne and he continued farming throughout his life with his brother, and his sons. Myron and MaryAnn moved into a new home in Salem in 1994.Myron played baseball for many years. He was involved with the Salem amateur team for 18 years as a pitcher, and they won the State baseball tournaments in 1964 &1965. He also bowled on the Tuschen's M & W team and was State Bowling Champions in 1983. He had the Honor of being a South Dakota state Pork Producer, and served on the State Executive board, and as director of the Eickman Farm Mutual board.He enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting and also playing card games with friends.Myron was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, serving as a lector for Mass, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed world travel with his family and friends.Myron returned to the family farm where he and MaryAnn began their farming journey over 58 years ago with his family for his final hours on Wednesday May 31, 2017.Myron is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; his children, Ralph (Michele) Tuschen, Lynne (Todd) Casanova, Jeffrey (Kris) Tuschen, Todd (Dee Heiberger) Tuschen, Bryan (Amy) Tuschen and Marc (Hollianna) Tuschen; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marlene Tuschen, his brother, Wayne (Karen)Tuschen, his brother-in-law, Larry Weier as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Irene Tuschen, his sister, LuAnn Weier, his brother, Milo and sister-in-law, Dorotha Tuschen, his grandparents, Ted and Anna Bies and Henry and Anna Tuschen and his father and mother-in-law, Joe & Florence Healy.
