Nagesh begins his new journey!

Nagesh Gupte began his new journey Dec3rd 2017.  Over the past few months he was suffering through his ailment and finally went in peace.  He was the eldest in his family of 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  He, Sharad, Vijay and Ram, the 4 brothers, along with Shailaja and Shobhana, his sisters, made the Gupte family.  His parents were Vitthal and Rukmini Gupte.  From what I know through our family conversations is that he was a born rebel and challenged the social norms from a very early age.

He spent most of his adulthood in the U.S.  He came to the US around 1967 or so from Pune, India. Post that, most of his journey in US is not completely known as he never talked about it.  I think he followed in the belief that, what matters is where I am now.  His nephews and nieces, especially ones born after 1967 were introduced to him only in the 1990's.  By then we were all growing up and only exposed to him slowly over the years when he finally settled back in India around late 90's.

With this orbituary I am trying to reach out to anyone who knew him and would like to share any pictures or incidents about him.  I truly wanted to know about his thought process all those years.  I do know his philosophical inclinations would have mixed memories in peoples mind.  But please do share them either way. He fondly carried pictures of his friends with him, but I am sorry to not recall their names.

I am saddened to see this obituary notice about Nagesh Gupte, albeit quite belatedly. I came to know first about Nagesh Gupte when he and I lived in the same large house (separate rooms) in Honolulu during 1970 - 72. I was then studying mechanical engineering (M.S.) and Nagesh was pursuing studies in philosophy at University of Hawaii. The house had about 8 rooms and a common kitchen area, with its rooms occupied separately by international students. I left Honolulu in 1973 to pursue my further studies in mainland U.S.A. and Canada and lost contact with Nagesh. Nagesh was a very kind and helpful person and had an outgoing personality. He made friends with people quite easily. May Nagesh Gupte rest in everlasting peace in the heavenly abode! : Subhash C. Sharma (Toronto)
