McLENNAN, Nancy Clark Nancy Clark McLennan died peacefully on August 16 with family by her side. Nancy was born on September 7,1920 in Durham, North Carolina but lived her early years in Franklinville, N.C where her father owned a Cotton Mill and a Flour Mill and Feed Mill. After her family's home was destroyed by fire , they moved to Greensboro, N.C. She was the daughter of John Washington and Nannie Bet Clark and granddaughter of Chief Justice Walter Clark and Sudie Clark of Raleigh, N.C. She graduated from Salem Academy and Mary Baldwin College where she was the captain of her basketball team and president of the Athletic Society her senior year. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Atlanta lawyer and entrepreneur, Alex McLennan. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Clark (infant) and Julia Izlar. She is survived by her children Alex McLennan (Dorothy) of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, Gail King of Sea Island, Georgia, and Mary Pearson (Al) of Perry Georgia. 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Nancy enjoyed anything outdoors especially golfing, tennis and gardening . She was known to ruin many a pair of high heels, working in her yard with no time to change clothes when returning home from a ladies get together. She really enjoyed lots of music , especially the Metropolitan Opera which came to the Fox every year from New York. After over 70 years of being a member of the Presbyterian church, she rejoined the Baptist Church for her last 20 years. She was a founding member of the Tea Olive Garden Club and an avid bridge player. She was also a member of the Junior League and Colonial Dames of Georgia. She spent countless hours in community service. A family graveside service was held.
