Nancy Jane Cosby DavisCHILLICOTHE: After a long and courageous (years) battle with cancer, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 - our Heavenly Father summoned the earthly life of one of his Angels, Nancy Jane Cosby Davis, calling her from labor to reward. Nancy was born on December 31, 1958 in Jackson, Ohio and was the youngest child of the late Coston L. and Joann Valentine Cosby. She was baptized and had accepted Christ at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Ironton, OH.Nancy graduated from Jackson High School, Class of 1976 and became the first African American Homecoming Queen at Jackson High School. She was instrumental in helping to keep her classmates together long after graduation. Nancy retired in November, 2008 after being diagnosed with cancer. She was employed with the State of Ohio Department of Corrections, where she was a dedicated employee in the business office at Chillicothe Correctional Institute and as Supervisor in the Cashier's office at the Ross Correctional Institute, Chillicothe, OH.Nancy enjoyed traveling and hanging out with her classmates of 1976, her many friends, family and most of all her sisters, children and grandkids. She leaves behind to cherish and treasure her memories a daughter, Kendra Ann Davis of Jackson, and a son, Kyle Allen Davis of Jackson and the father of her children, Greg Davis of Richmondale, OH. Her precious grandchildren, who she loved more than life: Keara Dawn Davis, Koston Allen Davis and Mattison Lynette Robbins. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorsine Ann Thomas and she is survived by her sisters, Shelia Roach(Henry) of Ironton, OH, Carol Tillar (Wendell) of South Chesterfield, VA and one brother, Laurel (Bud) Cosby (Marla) of Beaver, OH. Also to cherish her memories her special nieces, Kelly Thomas (whom she lived with) Andrea Jo Davis, Kristen Martin, Laura Gray, special nephew, Keenen Tillar and special great-nephews and great-nieces, Adam Swann, Micayla Morrison, Kiandra, CJ and Khamil Martin and an Uncle, Billy Cosby. Special cousins: Terri Elder, Rusty Cosby and Kenny Valentine. There are too many friends to list but without these special friends the fight would have been much harder: Joyce Kight Barbee (since the first grade), Anna Zimmerman, Bonnie King, Linda Jones, Debbie Tinsley and Linda Wagoner. Survived by many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, at 11 a.m. at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, Jackson, OH. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 11, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.Condolences may be sent to
