Nancy Jo (Revis) ReynoldsNancy Jo Reynolds was born on November 3, 1954. She passed away on May 27, 2017 after a short illness. She was the daughter of Bill and Betty Jo Revis. Nancy graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield in 1972. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1976, taught children with learning disabilities in Pierce City for 2 years, and moved back to Springfield to earn her Master of Science in 1982. Nancy married Thomas J. Reynolds on December 27, 1981. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Kimberly Jo and Carrie Elizabeth. Nancy continued to teach at the elementary school level with Springfield Public Schools for a total of 32 years and retired from Disney Elementary in 2015.Nancy was a member of King's Way United Methodist Church since she was 8 years old. She was involved with many groups including Bible studies, teaching children's Sunday School, Oldies & Goodies Retired Disney Teachers, Progressive Arts, and the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.Nancy had the most beautiful spirit and a heart filled with faith and love. Her selfless life sprang from her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a loyal friend and fiercely loved her family. Nancy was known to send cards with a handwritten note for just about any occasion. Many commented that she was the sweetest, most thoughtful, and kindest person they ever met. Nancy greeted everyone with a smile, never knew a stranger, and genuinely cared about the lives of others. Her deep compassion and ability to always make people feel special was a true gift of God's grace. Nancy was a light in this world and a blessing to every life she touched. She was an inspiring teacher, impacted countless lives in the community, and will always be treasured and dearly missed. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and several relatives.She is survived by her husband Tom, daughters Kimberly and Carrie, several relatives, and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, in the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, at King's Way United Methodist Church, 2401 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO with Pastor Laura Murphy officiating. Private burial will follow at the Highlandville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants please bring a children's book to donate in Nancy's name, or a memorial contribution can be made in Nancy's name to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools, 1131 N. Boonville, Springfield, MO 65802.
