YADKINVILLE — Nancy Williams McCann, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013. She was born on March 10, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Ralph and Minnie Williams. She was a life-long member of Forbush Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse York; sister, Sarah Williams; and brother, Charlie Williams. Those that will forever cherish her memory are her husband of 22 years, James W. McCann; children, Robert Lee York (Sharron), Allen Wayne York, Ruth Ann Baity (David) and stepson, Kelly McCann (Cindy), all of Yadkinville; five grandchildren, Bridget Groce (Dean), Deanna Watts (K.C.), Kristy Moxley (Bryan), Michael York and Dustin York; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Hutchens, Ruby Cranford (Don) and Shirley Baity; and two brothers, John Thomas Williams (Linda) and Junior Williams (Marie). Mrs. McCann retired from Western Electric/AT&T after 35 years of service. She had a "green thumb" like her mother, and enjoyed working in her flowers and plants. She had fond memories of many friends that she and her husband met while taking dance lessons in Winston-Salem many years ago and continued to meet with them regularly for lunch or dinner as long as her health permitted. Jim taught her to play golf and she was a member of ladies golf association at Yadkin Country Club. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Forbush Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Souther. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Forbush Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank her caregiver; Coleen Ball, the staff at Yadkin Nursing Care Center, and the staff at Palliative Care at Novant.
