Nancy Lee (Sorlie) Salyers, 73, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2020 at Banner Baywood Medical Center – Hospice Unit, surrounded by family. She was filled with courage, love and laughter all the while and we are forever grateful to be with her during her last moments on this earth.
Nancy, the daughter of John Sorlie and Ruth (Sorlie) Ewing, was born November 15, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Larry Salyers in 1963, when they began their family. Throughout the early years of her marriage she worked as a secretary and later cashier in and around the Des Moines, Iowa area. In 1980 the family moved to Mesa, Arizona where she resided for nearly 40 years. In retirement, she loved to spend time with friends, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Nancy was always a free spirit and always thought about others before herself.
Nancy is survived by her daughters Deanna (Salyers) Halona and Sheri Salyers; her son Vince Salyers; her stepdaughter Lana (Salyers) Craig; six grandchildren; Lee Craig, Christine James, Christopher Salyers, Brandon Salyers, Brianna Salyers, and Kayla (Salyers) Joeckel. She has eleven great grandchildren; Bryce Carter, Kenadee Carter, Izaeah Carter, Lily Joeckel, Wesley Joeckel, Lily Salyers, Rosabelle Stallings, Vivian Craig, Andrew Craig, Slevin Gilbert, and Jasper James. She has numerous nieces, nephews and extended family whom she loved dearly. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents John Sorlie and Ruth (Sorlie) Ewing, and a brother Ron Sorlie.
She will always be in our hearts and we will cherish all the moments spent with her until one day when we meet with her in her Heavenly home. We know God received her with open arms and now there is a new angel in Heaven watching over us.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Nancy’s memory to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/) or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (https://www.nationalmssociety.org/).
