Nancy StaabYorkNancy Caroline Staab, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Manor Care North. She was born on Friday, January 22, 1937, at 251 S. Penn St. in York City, the fifth and last surviving child of Harry E. and Blanche A. (Hildebrand) Staab. She was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and graduated from York Catholic High School in the Class of 1954.Her employment in the office at Prudential Insurance Company in York started shortly after graduation from high school and retired in 2002.With her sister, Gloria, she traveled for many years seeing all fifty states and Canada. She also traveled to all continents except Antarctica. A highlight for her was seeing the polar bears in Churchill, Canada. She also enjoyed two African safaris to Kenya and Tanzania.She enjoyed taking weekend trips and going to the theater with her sister and friends. There were also yearly trips to New York City where she enjoyed the Broadway theater, opera and ballet. Her favorite sports teams were Notre Dame and the New York Yankees, both of whom she saw several times.She is survived by her nieces, Wanda Gunnet and husband Bryon, Jessica Hilt and her husband Bruce; great niece and nephews, Gena and Scott Hilt and Joshua Staab.She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene Staab, his wife E. Annette (Bortner) and Kenneth G. Staab, who survived the landing on Utah Beach, but was killed during the Battle of the Bulge in 1945; her sisters, Gloria Staab, Lois Joan Newman, her husband Robert; nephews, Gary Newman and Kenneth F. Staab.Nancy willed her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry program.
