Naomi Wenger VenzkeDelmar-Naomi Wenger Venzke, 94, of Delmar, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after a short stay.She was born on July 17, 1922 in Reading, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Herman and Mabel (Snyder) Wenger. Mrs. Venzke worked various places as a secretary, first at the Indiantown Gap Army Base, then later worked at Lebanon Valley College. After moving to the Delmarva region she spent several years at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and worked up until age 79 for the W.F. Allen Plant Company in Salisbury. She was a long time member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, where she sang in the chancel choir for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid reader and loved the challenge of crossword puzzles. She will be most remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to all. She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte M. Wootten and husband, James of Delmar; a son, Leonard B. Venzke of Delmar; a grandson, Allen D. Wootten; and two great grandchildren, Alison and Ryan Wootten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Emery F. Venzke, who passed in 1991; and siblings, David, Walter, Samuel, Warren and Ralph Wenger; and sisters, Ardella Diebus and Edith Mosemann. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made in Naomi's memory to St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 101 E.
