CHITTENANGO >> Natale J. "Chris" Finocchiaro, 68, of 601 Valley Drive West, Chittenango, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.He was born on Sept. 26, 1948, in Canastota, the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Newman) Finocchiaro.Chris spent his early years in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1966. He later attended Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff, Neb., and SUNY Oswego. Chris has lived in Chittenango for the last 38 years. He worked for Harrison Industrial Supply in Syracuse, retiring in 2009. He had previously worked for Midstate Industrial Supply in Syracuse for many years.Chris was a US
Army veteran.He was a member of the American Legion Charles Miller Post No. 140 in Canastota.Chris enjoyed writing poetry, and was the author of a book of poetry entitled "Fascination Alleyway." He was an avid Syracuse University Sports fan, a longtime volunteer at the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.He married Roxanne L. Hicks on April 11, 1975, in Canastota.Surviving besides his wife, Roxanne, are: two sons, Andrew Finocchiaro, and Daniel Finocchiaro, both of Chittenango; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Dwayne Kinnison of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" and Frances Brenner of Oneida; two grandsons, Michael Runyon, and Christopher Kinnison; one great-grandson, Carter Runyon; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Chris was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Skellham, and Edward Skellham; and a sister, Virginia Becker.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. The Rev. Thomas G. Burgess, pastor of Hope Christian Fellowship, Canastota, will officiate. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In his memory, contributions may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., P.O.
