Necia Bennett Huntley Necia Bennett Huntley was born on December 10, 1912, in Baker City, Oregon. When she was a young child her family moved to Klickitat, Washington. After graduating from high school, she attended Washington State College, where she met Elmer C. (Bud) Huntley. Following her graduation from Washington State, she and Elmer were married and moved to the Huntley ranch near Thornton, where they farmed until 1972. When Elmer accepted a position as a Washington Utilities and Transportation Commissioner in 1972, they moved to Olympia, where she lived until her death on September 24, 2017, at the age of 104. Her husband Elmer passed away in 1994. Necia was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Olympia for many years. She volunteered weekly at the church until a week before her death. She was an accomplished artist, an avid reader, and a devoted WSU Cougar fan. She was also an avid fan of both the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks as well. She is survived by her niece Betty Gill and her husband Pat, their children Kathy Sayles (Carlos) and Stacey Gill (Marc Baumgaertel), and their granddaughter Lauren Sayles, and by her niece Necia Leach, her husband Pat, and their daughter Jennifer Leach. A memorial service for Necia will be held Saturday, October 7, at the United Methodist Church of Olympia at 1224 E.
