Nel Chandler, 71, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, walked hand in hand with Jesus and was granted everlasting life in heaven for eternity with God on May 04, 2023 in Lee County, Florida. Nel was born on September 20, 1951 to Lydia and Calvin Reed in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Nel was the 3rd of 7 siblings and was raised in Essex county. She was very athletic quick on her feet and loved to climb and sit in trees. In the year of 1970 she married Joseph Everett Chandler Jr. (married 36 years) in which they welcomed 3 children within their union. Kerri Chandler, Damaris Chandler, and India (Shawn) Ruhlman.
Her career choices consisted of pharmacy, stock brokerage, sales, certified school teacher and certified nurse assistant. Nel’s favorite pastime with her children would consist of going to Beefsteak Charlie's Steakhouse every Sunday, going to drive in movies, while letting her children sit on the sunroof, and double Dutch jump rope.
Becoming a grandmother at the young age of 38 she welcomed Paige (Xavier) Tinsley, Kerri Chandler, Dejah Ruhlman, Jade (Deion) Warren, William Chandler, and Shaun Ruhlman. Being a young grandmother she was very active and hands on. Nel’s grandchildren were her life she would participate in various activities with them such as games, reading, arts and crafts, toys, sports, music, musical instruments, drawing, shopping, styling their hair, eating, travel, double Dutch jump rope, pool and beach fun, riding bikes, jumping on the pogo stick Frisbee, jacks, and yo-yo. She was someone you could talk to about anything.
Becoming a Great Grandmother at the age of 70 she welcomed her first Deion Warren Jr. and the following year after Paisley Tinsley. Nel was overjoyed to have had the opportunity of being a grandmother and blessed to have been a part of her great grandchildren's early life. She loved Face Timing and seeing the babies hit their milestones on video and singing to them. Nel truly enjoyed all the pictures, videos and Face Time calls with DJ & Paisley. She loved her family with all her heart and showed it every chance she got. She was the life of the party!
Nel enjoyed a nice meal and traveling on cruise ships. She loved to participate in interior design, sewing, fashion, dancing, looking at cars, ice skating, roller skating, bowling, and watching TV. When meeting people she always made them feel seen and heard and would leave them with a smile on their face.
I’m sure she is reunited with family and friends she loved and missed dearly and is now smiling down on her family and friends and wishes nothing but happiness for them. If you close your eyes and think of her I’m sure you can feel her love and presence in your heart as she would want us to do on a daily basis. Love never dies.
