Nelda D. RobersonAbilene, TXNelda D. Roberson, 76, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Tuesday February 14, 2017 at Oldham Lane Church of Christ with burial following in Abilene Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.Nelda was born on June 2, 1940 To Nolan and Pauline Stroud in Abilene, TX. Nelda attended College Heights North Jr. High and Abilene High School. She met and married Johnny Roberson on May 25, 1957. They were blessed with three daughters. Nelda wanted to make a difference in the lives of children so she went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She later attended ACU and received her Masters of Education. Her first teaching job was at Noodle Horn School, she later taught at Anson, Abilene and Cisco Jr. College. Nelda's belief was that "All Children Can Learn." Nelda retired from teaching in 1997 to care for her husband and her own illness. She battled cancer on and off for 20 years. Nelda was a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ. She worked with World Bible School, loved her card ministry, enjoyed needle work, embroidery and was a fabulous cook.She is preceded by her parents; two brothers; and loving husband of 42 years, Johnny Dale Roberson. Survivors are her daughters; Sara Woodrow and husband David of Mesa, AZ, Cynthia Bowman of Abilene, TX, and Lisa Suzanne Roberson of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Samson Roberson and wife Rose, Tara Melvin and husband Randy, Warren Woodrow, and Dava Woodrow; great-grandchildren, Jacob Melvin, Taylor Melvin and Chase Decker; two sisters, Beth Roberson of Abilene, TX and Paula Roberts of Joplin, MO.The family wishes to express deep gratitude to her family at Chisholm Place., Dr. Melynk, Hendrick Hospice, Cards, and all of the prayers offered.To view and sign the guest book visit
